Shurangama Sutra Summer Retreat – 50th Anniversary

In 1968, Venerable Master Hsuan Hua hosted the first Shurangama Sutra Study and Meditation summer program in the West. This event became a catalyst for the beginning of a Western Sangha and Dharma community that has grown over the years to become Dharma Realm Buddhist Association. Now, 50 years later, we will investigate the Shurangama Sutra again with senior disciples of Master Hua, many of whom were at the first Shurangama Sutra retreat.

The Shurangama Sutra has guided Chan (Zen) practitioners throughout the millennia. In this text, the Buddha explains the essentials of meditation practice explaining how we create our reality through our projections and how to breakthrough our confusion to awakening.

This retreat is a unique opportunity to learn from teachers that have studied, translated, and practiced this text for 50 years in an immersive monastic environment.
